Organisation & Division of responsibilities
Organisation
To achieve safe chemical management, you need to review how the organisation is structured and what chemical work actually looks like in practice. This includes everything from which locations you have, to how chemicals are used in different work tasks within those locations.
An important step in your chemical management process is to continuously identify roles and responsibilities related to chemical management. Who is responsible for inventorying? Who creates and approves risk assessments? Who ensures that information is up to date and accessible to employees?
In some organisations, one and the same person may handle several parts of the work. In others, responsibility is shared between multiple employees. Regardless of how it is organised, it is valuable to establish a clear picture early on of who is involved and what they are responsible for, in order to ensure sustainable and successful work over time.
Division of responsibilities
To help you identify roles and responsibilities, we have created an example responsibility matrix. The purpose is not to show how it must be done, but to serve as inspiration and support when you structure your own work in Ester.
